Video Game Award Winners announced at Spike TV’s 2007 Show

Spike TV Logo The winners of the ‘Video Game Awards’ were announced at Spike TV’s 5th annual game awards ceremony for outstanding achievements in the gaming world. Talent from across the entertainment world was present at the Mandalay Bay Events Resort in Las Vegas. The event was hosted by industry veteran Samuel. L. Jackson.

The event’s most prestigious award went to 2K games, the developers of Bioshock. The game won awards for Game of the Year, Best Xbox 360 game and Best Original Score.Halo 3, developed by Microsoft and MTV Games Rock Band won two awards each. Some of the gaming world’s most anticipated releases were previewed at the event. Games like Borderlands, Gran Turismo, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow six Vegas 2 were unveiled for the first time.

Spike TV’s game awards pays tribute to groundbreaking achievement‘s of games, designers, technology, music and performances in the Video Games industry in the past year. There were various performances by artistes like Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, comedians like Patton Oswalt, Ralphie May and Brian Posehn who kept the audience in splits. The awards function also had presentations and appearances by celebrities like Criss Angel, Kurt and Karen Angle, Tia Carrere, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson, quarterback Matt Leinhart, rock star Dave Navarro to name a few.

Award Winning Games

Harmonix got the Best studio of the year award, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare won the best shooter in its class. The best RPG game was Mass Effect and Crysis won the award for the best graphics. Super Mario Galaxy won the award for the best game for the Wii console. Here’s a list of the rest of the award winners.
