Borderlands 2 Gets Dated

In news that is bound to spell delight for fans of the earlier game, Borderlands 2 has finally been bestowed with a release date. Those eager to lay their hands on this sequel to the spectacular space western first-person shooter named Borderlands, will have to cool their heels until late this year, as the game will be launched in North America by 2K Games for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on September 18, 2012. Its international release is planned for September 21.

‘Bigger, better and more badass’ is the mantra on which this new game is supposedly based. Under development by Gearbox Software, the sequel promises more exciting shoot and loot gameplay which will be complemented by fresh characters, skills, environments and unique missions. Moreover, cool new weapons, equipment and loot are also set to enter this title.

“The addictive gameplay and shooting and looting mayhem of the first Borderlands is back and better than ever in Borderlands 2, taking the franchise to an entirely new level. With more guns, more enemies, more missions, an engaging story and all-new characters, Borderlands 2 promises to bring a new era to gaming this fall,” explained Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K Games.

Akin to its prequel, this game will also feature seamless co-op offerings with offline split-screen as well as online drop-in-drop-out capabilities. Those who pre-order the title from participating retailers will be provided with access to its Premiere Club, which will proffer players with downloadable in-game items like the Gearbox Gun Pack, a Golden Key and the Vault Hunter’s Relic.

Gamers can now reserve their copies of Borderlands 2 via Amazon and GameStop. Slated to launch for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on September 18, it will sell for consoles at 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,950) and for PC at 49.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,455).
