The Battlefield 3: Aftermath release date has been set for November 27 by EA, and along with this information, a trailer and some new details about the expansion have also been revealed. The new mode included in Aftermath is called Scavenger. Described by DICE as a frantic hunt for survival, this mode has players starting out in earthquake-hit environments equipped only with a knife, one grenade and one sidearm. They must then search their ravaged surroundings for more powerful weapons. This is a team-based mode which behaves much like Conquest wherein two teams fight for control over a number of bases.

Apart from the crossbow, modified vehicles also make their way into this expansion. A new vehicle named Phoenix will be included in it, and so will the Barsuk which is a light transport automobile with a grenade machine launcher at the back, and an already existing machine gun on top. The final new vehicle comes in the form of the Rhino which although was a completely civilian vehicle originally, has been fitted with armor and a remote controlled machine gun to be triggered by the driver.

Battlefield 3: Aftermath will be available on November 27 only for those PS3 owners who possess a Premium subscription, granting them free access to it. Non-premium PS3 gamers will be able to grab it on December 11 at a price of 14.99 USD (approx. Rs. 810). For Premium members on the Xbox 360 and PC, it will be out for free on December 4, whereas usual players using these platforms will be able to grab it on December 18 at 14.99 USD (approx. Rs. 810) or 1,200 Microsoft Points.
