Battlefield 4 Beta Spotted on Origin listing

If the latest rumor is to be believed, DICE might already be working on Battlefield 4. This speculation comes after a recent spotting of the game’s beta codes being included with pre-orders of the upcoming Medal of Honor title. The third iteration of the Battlefield series was released in North America on October 25 and since then fans have eagerly been waiting for a peek of the next game.

Battlefield 4 Beta Rumor

With the rising speculation, EA has pulled out the advertisement from the Origin website. Before being removed, this ad stated that pre-order customers of Medal of Honor Warfighter would be given a chance to access the beta program of Battlefield 4. Prior to this, neither of the associated companies had ever officially mentioned the existence of the game.

And even if DICE really is working on a sequel to Battlefield 3, it is highly unlikely that it will be out anytime soon. That’s because Battlefield 3 took roughly six years to officially hit stores shelves after the release of its second part.

As pointed out by IGN, the pre-order requests do not offer any additional details regarding the release, nor does Battlefield’s official website. Sometime ago, the managers at DICE mentioned reasons for the title not being a yearly franchise. One of the prime motives behind it was that annualizing the series would weaken the vision and, in the long run, kill the franchise.

During an event at the University of Southern California last year, Frank Gilbeau, EA president, in an off-handed remark verified that they have plans to develop the title. Rumors regarding its existence have been in the air for quite some time, but even with the blatant confirmation, not much can be deciphered about its launch.

Prior to Battlefield 4, Battlefield: Bad Company 3 also hit the speculation sheet in May. However, both EA and DICE chose to remain silent about it.
