Fresh content is on the cards for all those who’ve purchased Counter-Strike: Global Offensive through Steam. Gamers can head over to the service, and download a new update for the FPS which adds to it two new maps as well as some gameplay fixes and other additions. Changes to the title’s matchmaking system have also found their way into the update. No word yet upon when this content will be out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

New maps that make their way into the patch are de_vertigo and ar_monastery. While the former will now be available for Classic Casual and Classic Competitive, the latter will be playable in Arms Race. Improvements to the matchmaking include the replacement of the ”˜Join in Progress’ system in Competitive mode with the ”˜Queued’ system.
Furthermore, if players disconnect from a match, they will be enabled to rejoin or abandon it from the main menu. And abandonment in such a situation will result in a cooldown period being imposed on them, during which they won’t be able to enter another competitive match.
Besides this, a considerable amount of fixes have been released by the developer as well. The game was released for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac in August this year. Developed using Valve’s famed Source engine, it features enhanced graphics, new content as well as classic maps and weapons that have become synonymous to the series.
This new update for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is live now on Steam for PC and Mac. It can be downloaded for free by all those who own the game.
