THQ, Machinima Team up to Unleash Nexuiz Early 2012

THQ has joined hands with Machinima for releasing Nexuiz early next year. The upcoming title is noted to be the full reimagining of the PC arena shooter that was brought forth by Alien Trap Software some years back. The FPS game is powered by CryEngine 3 and developed by Denver-based IllFonic.

Players will be ported into futuristic arenas where they can defeat enemies using their desired weapons. According to the companies, up to eight gamers can indulge in gameplay by actually defying the laws of physics. This is possible by activating 100 various Dynamic Mutators that have the ability to alter the match on the fly.

“We at Machinima are always looking for the best gaming and gamer-oriented content to share with our massive, engaged, global community of video gamers. We were very excited when we saw an early iteration of what Illfonic was creating and believe it will breathe new life into the arena-genre as a whole,” revealed Allen DeBevoise, chairman and CEO of Machinima. “As the world’s leading marketing platform for videogames, we were thrilled to partner with the THQ team and Illfonic to get the word out to our audience.”

Each installment will differ from the other as there are a plethora of Mutator combinations to take advantage of. Although the original Nexuiz entered the PC domain all those years back, the game is all set to invade other platforms like Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows PC as well.
