THQ Signs Up Crytek to Develop Homefront Sequel

Seems like Homefront fans are in for a treat as THQ has announced that Crytek will be developing a sequel to the first person shooter. The first title was released in March this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Very few details of the game have been released by Crytek so far, perhaps due to its far-away release date of 2014.

It was revealed that this sequel will be released for consoles as well as PC. But by the time we reach 2014, the PS3 and Xbox 360 might just be things of the past. That’s the reason why very little can be speculated about the game right now. THQ’s Kaos Studios subsidy had developed Homefront, but was shut down soon after the release of this title. A sequel therefore, was being seen as a distinct possibility.

“We see Homefront as a really strong universe that has a lot of potential and that has been expertly created and marketed by THQ. We believe that bringing our level of quality, creativity and production values to the next Homefront title, creates an opportunity for both THQ and Crytek to deliver a truly blockbuster game. It’s really important to us that THQ has the faith in giving us a lot of creative freedom over one of its most important properties to allow us to bring the Homefront world to life in a new and innovative way,” commented, Cevat Yerli, Founder, CEO and President of Crytek.

German developer Crytek is known for its successful first person shooters like Far Cry, Crysis and Crysis 2. The latter game was released earlier this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

With Crytek and THQ having announced a 2014 release date for the Homefront sequel, it is defiantly too early to start looking forward to the title. But gamers will be kept posted by us with all the latest developments regarding the matter.
