After running a closed beta for select gamers, Gotham City Impostors has been granted an official release date by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. It will be made available for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on January 10, 2012, while an open beta of the game is scheduled to go live this December.
This download-only first-person shooter can occupy a maximum of to 12 players who will battle it out to bring back order into a deranged Gotham City which has been infested by impostors that are divided into teams of Batman and Joker. The game will involve players engaging in unusual urbane warfare, while also personalizing their impostors.
Gamers will have the opportunity to modify their characters by utilizing the title’s various customization options that apparently including insane costumes, homemade gadgets as well as various other weapons. Moreover, this online multiplayer game will feature maps and modes inspired from the Batman series. In early October, a closed beta for this game was run by its developers.
The beta testers were not allowed to share information about the title under a ‘Play Testing and Confidentiality Agreement.’ As the closed beta was available only on PC a list of required specifications had also surfaced. 6GB of hard disk space, a Dual Core CPU 2.5GHz, either GeForce 8800 or ATI X1900 GPUs and a broadband connection of minimum 64kbps are some of the recommended specifications mentioned by the developer.
Gotham City Impostors is all set to release for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC January 10, 2012. It will be launched via PSN and Xbox Live for the respective consoles.
