Battlefield 3 Open Beta Up and Running on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC

A post on the official Battlefield 3 blog has confirmed that the Battlefield 3 open beta has gone live and gamers from all over the world can now access it. Those waiting to get a taste of one of this year’s biggest titles can now download it on their preferred platforms.

Early access to this beta was provided to those who pre-ordered the digital version of the final title via Origin and to gamers who possess the Limited Edition versions of last year’s Medal of Honor. This beta would include the series popular Rush mode which will be played on the Operation Metro map. Set in Paris, this map is said to comprise ‘lush’ parks, a ‘bombed-out’ metro station and ‘vibrant streets.’

Participating players can access the Battlelog which provides them with social tools, feeds and detailed player stats. It also allows them to manage their friend lists, form squads, create platoons, use voice chat and follow their friends’ progress in real-time. Moreover, players wanting to report bugs or suggest improvements can do so on the Battlelog forums. The Battlefield 3 beta will be open to gamers till October 10, 2011.

The final game is slated to release on October 25 for the PS3, Xbox 360 as well as PC. This game is supposed mark the debut of EA’s new Frostbite 3 engine. It can currently be pre-ordered from major retailers at a price of 59.95 USD (approx Rs. 2,942) for all the platforms.

Meanwhile, those who can’t wait to get their hands on the title can jump into the Battlefield 3 open beta which is currently available on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
