Gears Of War 3 Influenced from Lost Planet?

Everyone across has been raving about the recent Gears of War 3 reveal which showcases mankind at the pinnacle of survival. The dystopian universe of Sera seems to be crumbling. The coalition of ordered governments has gone awry with the sinking of Jacinto. According to the trailer Fenix and company have also undergone significant changes not only in terms of physical appearances but also their psyche, which was clearly portrayed by Dom (remember he keeps staring at a statue of a mother clutching onto her child).

Lost Planet Gears Of War

All these obvious references aside there was more that was shown in the trailer. We speak particularly about the tentacled monster that was clutching not only at the insidious Locust Horde but also towards Delta Squad. This creature, which has been dubbed as the “Lambent Locust”, is a new form of enemy that the squad seems to be up against. However, this entirely may not be the case since we have seen similar creatures in another game titled “Lost Planet” and its upcoming sequel.

A few months ago, there was a reveal that both Dom and Marcus would be playable characters in Lost Planet 2 and it looks that Gears of War 3 also seems to be influenced by the game. The tentacle creature is among the many others that have already been seen in some format or the other in Lost Planet 2. This was not however the only thing that led us to think that there must have been some “inspirational” flow from Jun Takeuchi to Cliff Bleszinski. There has been a running rumor that Gears of War 3 will have an area which will have the utilization of mech suits. Now if we all remember there are trailers in Lost Planet 2 which showcase both Marcus and Dom strapping on mechs and eradicating everything that stands in their path.

Jun Takeuchi had confessed that these character skins would provide players their adrenaline rush that players require to push through any action game. So, seeing some mechanics/enemy types being transferred from Lost Planet to Gears 3 seems hardly surprising. This is not the first time we may be seeing this type of a crossover happen in the world of video games. The Metal Gear/Assassin’s Creed twist is also a great example of the rapport and respect that developers from different parts of the globe share with each other, the driving point being keeping fans satisfied and giving them things to talk about for the upcoming titles.

Gears of War 3 releases April 2011, more as information drops our way.
