Street Fighter V Arcade Edition leaked and then confirmed

Fans have wanted an Arcade Edition for Street Fighter V all along, even though Capcom didn’t trouble themselves to fulfill this wish at launch. Now yet another leak, this time via Amazon, has revealed that a Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition will indeed be arriving as early as 16 January 2018.

UPDATE: Capcom has finally confirmed the news officially!

In late September last month, UK retailer ShopTo had mistakenly published a retail listing for the game too. It showed the same release date as that mentioned above. All the information contained in the latest Amazon US leak might be too specific to paint it as one of those lowly placeholder listings.

Street Fighter 5 Arcade Edition

If you remember, at the time of the original game’s launch in 2016, producer Yoshinori Ono had claimed that no updated versions of SFV would be rolled out in the future. It looks like Capcom is finally seeing things through the eyes of fans. The upcoming Arcade Edition will be the first ever update to the title.

According to the details so far, those who already own SF5 will get Arcade Edition as a free upgrade. The entire game will have 28 characters inclusive of the DLC ones. A secondary V-Trigger will be part of the update. It’s expected to be available before the battle begins and useful for creating a new playstyle for characters.

Players will be able to unlock over 200 pieces of artwork, the UI has been overhauled and gamers will be able to indulge in an Extra Battle mode. All of these introductions and then some, will form part of SFV Arcade Edition. Get ready to drop $40 for it.
