UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Available for PS3 and Xbox 360: THQ

UFC 2009 Undisputed is the mixed martial arts video game and is regarded as a realistic mixed martial arts simulator by its developers. Now THQ and Zuffa have revealed that a playable demo for the game has gone live and is available as a free download from the Xbox Live Marketplace for the Xbox 360 and from the PlayStation Network for the PS3. UFC 97 was held last weekend in Montreal and as a tribute, the game’s demo will give players a sample of an exhibition “bout” featuring former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

In addition to the sample bout, the game’s demo will contain a part of UFC 2009 Undisputed’s Tutorial Mode which gives players a chance to get to know the game’s unique controls while learning about the sport of mixed martial arts.

“Fans around the world have been clamoring for a great UFC videogame for quite some time,” Dana White, president of UFC stated. “We are pleased to offer a free sample of UFC 2009 Undisputed featuring two great athletes and competitors, Chuck Liddell and ‘Shogun’ Rua, prior to launch.”

“The playable demo for UFC 2009 Undisputed will allow consumers to have their first taste of virtual Octagon action prior to our highly anticipated launch on May 19,” Scott Guthrie, executive VP of publishing at THQ commented. “We look forward to seeing how fans embrace this powerful mixed martial arts gameplay experience.”

The playable demo for UFC 2009 Undisputed lets players step into the virtual Octagon for an Exhibition Mode duel as either Mauricio “Shogun” Rua or Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell. The demo is set in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and supports one or two players with Mario Yamasaki refereeing the three-round match.

UFC 2009 Undisputed is a fiery fighting game which captures the intensity and action of a live UFC event, featuring over 80 of the top UFC fighters in five different weight classes. The game will also have the sport’s trainers, referees, announcer, commentators, Octagon Girls and more. Photorealistic models take centre stage with life-like action effects rippling across the bodies and faces of the fighters.

The simple and innovative controls reflect the brand new fighting game engine and allow players to delve into the various mixed martial arts such as Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu featured in the game. The Create-a-Fighter system featured in the game provides character customization and the Career Mode will build up a fighter’s skills and attributes as players fight to enter the UFC Hall of Fame. Additionally, UFC 2009 Undisputed also has a Classic Fights Mode in which players can relive some of the memorable moments in UFC history.

The UFC 2009 Undisputed playable demo is now available and the full game will be released on May 19, 2009 for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. While the demo is free, prices for the game have not been revealed.
