Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, which was released towards the end of last year, had characters from both the Mortal Kombat series and the DC Universe. The game didn’t feature very gory stuff and was given a teen rating. Now Gamespot is reporting that Mortal Kombat creator, Ed Boon has revealed that the upcoming title, tentatively called Mortal Kombat 9, will be M-rated.
“People want an M-rated MK … dammit, we will give them an M-rated MK,” Ed Boon said via Twitter. Apparently the new game is to contain “sick” fatalities, and everyone is aiming for a mature rating. But Boon jokes, “”I hope we aren’t taking these too far.”
Fans of the Mortal Kombat series will have to wait for some time before they see Mortal Kombat 9, as Ed Boon had earlier said that the game was more than a year away. It in unclear whether the game even has a publisher at this point.
