King of Fighters to be made into a movie

This news seems to be a sequel to the earlier post. Taipei and LA-based Double Edge Entertainment has bought the movie rights of the King of Fighters. It will be directed by Hong Kong action director Gordon Chan.

CEO Bobby Sheng explains, “When we go in as an investor we are looking to put up 7.5%-20% of budgets at an early stage in project and in return make exec producer fees and take Asia and Japan rights. Inferno arrangement is best example of this. Selection of the two-four investment projects per year is likely to be diverse, but pics need to have Asian appeal derived from casting or subject matter.”

The movie is being produced Axis Entertainment’s Joseph Chou. He is also working on Appleseed: Ex Machina. King of Fighters games are best known for the huge number characters that feature in the game.
