Need for Speed: Most Wanted headed to Wii U in 2013

Ready to be branded as the first NFS game to be released for the Wii U, Need for Speed: Most Wanted is all geared up to make its debut on Nintendo upcoming console sometime next year. EA broke this news yesterday, but avoided mentioning a specific release window for this title which is slated to arrive for the PS3, PS Vita, Xbox 360 and PC on October 30, 2012.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted

One of Nintendo’s latest financial reports started the whole frenzy by listing NFS Most Wanted as one of the Wii U’s pending European releases. EA was quick to issue a response through Polygon, saying that it is ‘very excited’ to bring the title on more platforms and to more gamers. No further information has been provided by the publisher as yet.

Announced for the first time in June this year, the game will act as a reboot to the iconic title of the same name launched in 2005. While the earlier version was developed by EA Black Box, who made last year’s mediocre NFS: The Run, the new version is being handled by Criterion Games, a studio known for its incredibly popular Burnout series.

The Wii U will be released this November in the form of two bundles – a Basic set and a Deluxe (or Premium) set. A host of launch titles have also been announced for it by Nintendo as well as third-party publishers. Need for Speed: Most Wanted is the latest addition to this list. Although right now, no details are available about how the game will incorporate the console’s features, we’ll have more on it later on. Meanwhile, catch the title’s launch trailer which we’ve posted above.
