Last year, EA unleashed furious races at high-octane speeds across breath-taking landscapes with two chapters namely Hot Pursuit and World in the Need for Speed franchise. Taking drivers onto another level of the action racing genre, the company released NFS Shift 2 Unleashed in March this year. The gaming giant has now disclosed its second offering in the series for the year dubbed Need for Speed The Run.

Gamers who have been indulging in fierce chases unfurled by last year’s releases can now gear up to drive through narrow lanes and trafficked streets with The Run. Kicking off a journey from San Francisco to New York, the upcoming title has been touted to ride players through an underground world of illicit racing. It is said to come in for extending a comprehensive treat of immersive graphics, engrossing narrative, trendy cars and thrilling pursuits.
“This is the year that Need for Speed goes to the next level,” commented Jason DeLong, Executive Producer at EA. “We think that Need for Speed The Run is going to surprise people with its intense, thrilling story and big action feel. But the game would be nothing without hot cars and crazy-fast chases. So that is what we’re delivering — explosive racing that will have players flirting with disaster at 200-miles an hour.”
Powered by DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine, NFS The Run has been crafted to deliver simulating visuals and advanced physics. Its gripping storyline is expected to stretch out the sheer rush of the game, allowing players to drive without adhering to speed limits, rules or allies. This is mainly as the world has been plugged to usher in devoid of these elements. Further, the Autolog functionality introduced through Hot Pursuit makes a comeback with refined features in this installment.
Need for Speed The Run has been slated to zoom into the North American circuit on November 15, 2011 while gamers across Europe can purchase the title from November 17, 2011. It will be available for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC and Nintendo 3DS.
