EA reveals Shift 2 Unleashed, marks a Spring 2011 Release

With Need for Speed: Shift, EA wafted towards a more simulation focused games and reportedly gained an adequate commercial success. Now, EA has revealed that the next installment of the Need for Speed Sim series Shift 2: Unleashed is scheduled for a Spring 2011 release.

The previous entrant of the racing terrain was developed by Slightly Mad Studios and is said to have revolutionized the simulation genre by delivering a true driver’s experience with its gameplay being more intuitive, realistic and intense. Shift 2: Unleashed is reported to have derived from similar true drivers experience and extends the gameplay by presenting the driver’s battle. It offers a primal feel of power and speed that are much more authentic and raises the stakes of struggle for superiority in an essentially competitive race.

“Shift 2: Unleashed is redefining immersive racing by blending the rush of tearing up the track at unbelievable speeds with the emotional experience of competitive battle,” commented Marcus Nilsson, Executive Producer, Shift 2: Unleashed. “We are also working closely with real-world performance drivers to ensure that Shift 2: Unleashed captures their experience and becomes the benchmark in authentic racing action.”

Integrated with a new rendering engine with a huge graphics overhaul, Shift 2: Unleashed will allow players to witness all the gripping on-track action with the new helmet camera. Simulating the actual experience of driving at 200mph, the game will present night racing modes and authentic degradation of tracks and cars. Need for Speed Autolog, the franchises innovative social network, is also incorporated in the game which connect players all around to compete and compare their racing stats.

Shift 2: Unleashed, created by the acclaimed Slightly Mad Studios, is reported to be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC early in 2011.
