Paramount Digital Entertainment, Nascar, SCEA, and Piranha Games have announced their stock car arcade racing title, Days of Thunder: Nascar Edition, exclusively for the PlayStation Network. The game is scheduled to hit the PSN this summer and will give players the chance to go head-to-head against some of the best Nascar Sprint Cup drivers as well as some from the Paramount Pictures film, Days of Thunder.
“Racing against Nascar drivers such as Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin and ‘Days of Thunder’ characters Cole Trickle, Rowdy Burns, and Russ Wheeler simultaneously is something that could only happen in a video game, and a great way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film,” Tom Lesinski, president of Paramount Digital Entertainment, said. “We are pleased to team up with SCEA and Nascar to bring fans an adrenaline packed, one-of-a-kind arcade racing experience.”
In the game you are the latest rookie in Rowdy Burns’ team and under the guidance of coach Rowdy you must learn to hit the pit, trade paint with rivals and upgrade your ride. Rowdy Burns is voiced by actor Michael Rooker in a game which features 12 Nascar-sanctioned tracks including Talladega Superspeedway and Daytona International Speedway.

Days of Thunder: Nascar Edition will feature AI which is set to match each film character and Nascar driver. Players will receiver in-game currency to re-fuel, pit, and upgrade their cars based on how they place in races, take leads and pick up new sponsors. The game’s online mode allows up to 12 players to make a dash for the finish. Single-player on the other hand offers Quick Race, Time Trial, Career and Derby Mode.
