“We’ve been inspired by the flair, style and big event atmosphere of ESPN’s X Games series, which has switched on a new generation of action sports fans to rally and off-road racing.” stated Gavin Raeburn, Senior Executive Producer, Codemasters. “It’s been incredible to work with them to shape a series of exclusive X Games integrations for Colin McRae: Dirt 2. Gamers will experience three major competitions that will make them feel like they’re really arrived on the world’s premiere racing stage, competing in front of thousands of fans in dramatic and spectacular stadium events.”

The three new stages which will be developed exclusively for the game are X Games America, X Games Europe and X Games Asia, and will feature official X Games branding throughout. In the game’s World Tour section, players must rack up the achievements to compete in the X Games. The most famous and well recognized off road athletes such as Dave Mirra, multi medal-winning Subaru Rally Team USA driver Ken Block, Tanner Faust and Travis Pastrana, who has already lent his voice to Colin McRae: Dirt, will be included in the X Games events.

“With Colin McRae: Dirt 2 Codemasters has captured the essence of contemporary action sports racing, making the game a great platform to integrate the X Games brand and the look and feel of its global events,” commented Rick Alessandri, ESPN Senior Vice President and Managing Director, X Games Franchise. “We’re excited that millions of players will have the opportunity to engage in the X Games environment both in the game and online.”

Colin McRae: Dirt 2 will ship in North America on September 8, 2009. The game is scheduled for a September 10, 2009 release across the EPAC territories, with an expected street date of September 11, 2009 in the UK. The driving title is being published for the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, Wii and Nintendo DS, with a DirectX 11 compatible Games for Windows version to follow. Prices have not been announced yet.
