Green Day Teams Up with Rovio for New Angry Birds Friends Levels

Rovio’s first Facebook outing, Angry Birds Friends has been around for quite some time now, and this social game has just been updated with fresh content designed around punk rock band, Green Day. The new episode kicks in a total of ten themed levels, while other exclusive levels are all set to be released later this year.

The pigs featured in these levels have been designed along the lines of three of the band’s members – Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool. Moreover, fans will also have access to specially created content that comprises Green Day’s latest single ‘Oh Love,’ as well as an exclusive track named ‘Troublemaker.’ Rovio describes it as a first of its kind collaboration, and has assured fans that new content for this episode will be launched in the fall of this year.

“We are beyond excited. Two amazing brands working together on a one-of-a-kind collaboration — we can’t wait for our fans to explore this new Green Day world,” said Rovio CMO and ‘Mighty Eagle,’ Peter Vesterbacka.

This game was first released via Facebook in February 2012. Apart from various social aspects that enable players to challenge the scores of their friends and invite them for competitions, it also enables them to explore a number of new power-ups introduced through the title for the first time. Although, it is a free game, micro-transactions have been incorporated into it for gamers to be able to purchase more power-ups and other items.

The Green Day episode for Angry Birds is live now on Facebook. More levels will be launched for it later on.
