Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice gets a multiplayer mod

sekiro online Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has so far been only a single-player experience, and a rather awesome one at that. But an independent modder has created and released a multiplayer mod for the game that allows you to indulge in co-op as well as PvP gameplay. Called Sekiro Online, this PC mod has entered public beta, and can be grabbed through its official page.

Sekiro Online allows up to six players to play the campaign cooperatively online, with one of them hosting and the other five appearing as phantoms. The game’s difficult nature will surely be eased by the presence of six characters at once. And apart from the PvP mode, the mod also includes the invasion feature that’s much akin to the one from the Souls game series.

Sekiro Online has been developed by Luke Yui, who says, “As the title suggests, this mod adds both PvP and co-operative play to the game – I’ve tried to make it as familiar as I can to Souls games’ online mode, but as I’m not a professional game development company, it’s not going to be exactly the same. What it isn’t, is an identical online experience to the Souls games, I’ve been working on this as a pet project for the past couple of months, and have nowhere near the skills and resources to completely duplicate flawless online play.”

Last March was when Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was released for the PS4, the Xbox One and PC. Developed by FromSoftware, it’s an action-adventure game taking place in the Sengoku period of Japanese history, and allows you to assume the role of shinobi who is attempting to take revenge on a samurai clan who attacked him and kidnapped his lord.
