Game of Thrones, the incredibly popular HBO TV series which is based on a set of novels by George R.R. Martin, could be getting an adventure game based on it, since a new rumor is pointing towards the possibility of one. Telltale Games, the studio which specializes in creating adventure titles, and whose recent offerings include the likes of The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, is being touted to be at the helm of its development.
No concrete information about the matter is available at the moment, but IGN has disclosed details it received from ‘multiple sources’ about a Game of Thrones title being under development from the studio. The website tried to get a statement from the makers, and succeeded in doing so, but it didn’t bring in any clarity on the matter. “We get these sorts of rumors about what we could be working on next cropping up all the time. Officially we have no comment,” said Steve Allison, the SVP of publishing over at Telltale.
There was indeed a Game of Thrones video game which was launched last year as an action-RPG developed by Cyanide, but failed to garner favorable reviews. With Telltale Games at the helm of the development, we can expect the supposed title to be an adventure offering like all its other games which lay heavy focus on story and decision-making. Its games also tend to follow an episodic nature when it comes to release.
