Uncharted: The Lost Legacy takes gamers to India

Naughty Dog might be done with Uncharted 4, but it isn’t ready to properly wrap it up yet. A standalone entry dubbed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be released for PS4 for fans of this franchise in late 2017. It is set in India and has the somewhat unexplored characters of Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross as the protagonists.

The Lost Legacy will have the biggest environment ever featured in the Uncharted series – the Western Ghats of India. It has been revealed that Chloe is half Indian and half Australian, a convenient touch which no doubt allows the writers to add a certain bit of depth to the plot, as she sets out with Nadine in search of an ancient treasure called the Tusk of Ganesh.

But Chloe’s choice of Nadine as her partner in this adventure is not completely random, we learn. The latter has some connection with the story’s “black-white-gray” character Asav, ex-government employee and rebel with a cause. He is ‘trying to create war and profit from it,’ in the words of creative director Shaun Escayg (to Game Informer).

Initially intended to be a downloadable expansion pack, The Lost Legacy has evolved into a standalone entry, though it’s not as long as Uncharted 4 and more expansive than The Last of Us: Left Behind DLC. The lead character’s combat mechanics has been redesigned – gamers will be able to spot additional martial arts moves in her repertoire.

Best of all, the stealth mechanics of Uncharted 4 makes its way into The Lost Legacy too. Not fighting in certain cases is an option too. And just like with the Nathan-Sam partnership, Nadine can carry out some proper “sidekicky” tasks such as marking enemies for Chloe and joining in during combat scenes.
