Red Dead Revolver hits Sony PS4

Red Dead Redemption’s somewhat unlovable predecessor Red Dead Revolver, has officially hit PS4 and is now available in the Sony PlayStation Store. So it’s not the new game fans have been hoping for. But it’s at least some added reassurance of the franchise still being alive and kicking, in case you needed that even after Rockstar’s parent company (Take-Two) promised it would keep going.

Of course, Red Dead Revolver’s arrival on PS4 is not a complete surprise considering that it had briefly slipped into the Australia-specific PS Store in September last month, only to be quickly recalled by Sony for whatever reason. Well, you can buy it officially for $14.99 now. This revamp includes trophies, remote play, Shareplay, upscaled 1080p visuals and second screen support for game manuals.

The Western-style action title has been ported from PS2, long after its release in 2004 for Sony’s and Microsoft’s consoles. The much beloved Red Dead Redemption, has been available on Xbox One since July 2016 but not on PS4 sadly. On the older Microsoft device, the game sequel as well as its expansion dubbed Undead Nightmare, the Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition and its DLC is playable by enthusiasts.

Fans of the franchise are currently baying for Red Dead Redemption 2. There are hopes for its launch in 2017, though little concrete evidence apart from a leaked map in April 2016, has surfaced so far. Meanwhile, it’d be great if Sony would port Red Dead Redemption from PS3 to PS4. It’s been more than 6 years since the title was released after all.
