Hitman might get more episodes via two more seasons

Fans who were disappointed to know that Hitman will not be a full-fledged release have come to terms with the episodic nature of the game now. For those unaware, it is being outed in the form of chapters every few weeks, and will be completely available as a bunch once all of them have been released.

But it seems IO Interactive doesn’t want to stop at just that. What we’re witnessing right now may just be Hitman: Season 1, and the developers have planned to make Seasons 2 and 3 as well. Plus, there’s also a possibility of classic levels from past games being remade to fit into the new title.

All this news comes from the game’s official Twitter account, where questions of some fans were being answered by its makers. Hitman is currently three episodes in, and the fourth one is to be released later this month. The first episode was launched for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC in March this year.

It’s perhaps after the last episode that Season 2 will be announced by Square Enix, as is the case with most episodic games these days. As for details regarding remakes of classic levels, nothing apart from the statement that they are ‘always a possibility’ has been said on the matter.

This year’s Hitman stays true to the nature of its predecessors, but adds a few gameplay enhancements as well. It features just single-player gameplay, but includes an always-online requirement which too was not well received by fans.

Season 2 of Hitman is still to be confirmed yet, but seeing the popularity which the current season is enjoying, we won’t be surprised to see Square Enix revealing it in the months to come.
