Mirror’s Edge Catalyst closed beta announced for all platforms

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst doesn’t release until May, but those looking forward to the game will have one more reason to smile soon. A closed beta for the upcoming offering has been announced by EA, while the company has also having revealed that it will be made available on the PS4, the Xbox One as well as PC.

Another piece of great news is that the Mirror’s Edge Catalyst closed beta will be available to enter for free, without the need to pre-order the game or go through any other such process. Those who wish to try out the game before it is released can sign up for the closed beta test now.

With the game having been focused on single-player offerings, one would wonder why EA has chosen to hold a multiplayer beta test for it. Perhaps the company does not want to repeat past mistakes of releasing buggy multiplayer offerings. It adopted the same approach with its much appreciated Star Wars Battlefront.

ME Catalyst

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst acts as a sequel to cult classic Mirror’s Edge which was released by EA back in 2008. This title will build upon the narrative and gameplay of the predecessor, and will present a reboot of sorts to fans. It will be an open world offering rather than a liner one like the previous title.

This game sees protagonist Faith traversing the city using expert parkour moves in order to complete missions and evade enemies. While the first game featured a small amount of firearm-based combat as well, this title will be abandoning that completely.
