Mighty No. 9 has its release date outlined

Mighty No. 9, which is a modern game with the soul of yesteryear Mega Man titles imbibed deeply inside it, has just been granted a release date by its makers. This much anticipated offering will be released by publisher Deep Silver in the Americas region on February 9, 2016, while its launch in other territories will take place on February 12.

These dates apply to the digital as well as physical versions of the game’s Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U editions as well as the digital-only copies meant for the PS3, the Xbox 360 and PC. As for the PS Vita and 3DS editions of Mighty No. 9, they still remain with any release dates to quote.

This title is actually a crowd-funded one, as Keiji Inafune had famously started a Kickstarter campaign for it back in September 2013. The game got funded within just two days, and eventually received 400 percent more funds than intended.

Mighty No. 9

The extreme popularity of the Mega Man franchise, and Capcom’s refusal to revive it were two main reasons fans so willingly supported Mighty No. 9. Since the Mega Man games too were designed by Inafune himself, their spiritual successor seems to be in the right hands.

It will be similar to the old games in terms of both gameplay and character design. Intense 2D platforming will be on offer along with 2D and 3D artwork and animation. Players will take control of a robot named Bech who must fight rogue robots in order to discover the villain who threatens the fate of the planet.
