Grab Dead Space for free through Origin now

EA’s epic 2008 shooter, Dead Space is now being offered for the much loved price of free through Origin. This offer comes via the publisher’s On the House promotion, and is supposed to last until May 8. Developed by EA Redwood Shores, this game was one of the most successful titles of 2008, and it thrives as much on its survival horror elements as it did on it superb third-person shooter gameplay.

The On the House promotion deals from EA are being looked at by many as a measure to clear some muck off the company’s name, since it’s been facing extreme criticism from fans for the past few years. Strange policies regarding online play and DLC are mostly to be blamed for this. Last year’s high-profile SimCity controversy was a low point for the publisher in more ways than one.

The Maxis-developed city builder was released for PC with an always-online requirement which mandated an Internet connection. But server issues and major bugs had rendered the game unplayable to a large number of gamers for some time. Earlier this month, EA decided to remove this online requirement from SimCity, but it seems to have come a tad later than many would have wanted.

And now, the company has further pushed its agenda of getting in the good books of gamers again. If you wish to grab a free copy of Dead Space, log into your Origin account and visit the game’s page.
