Watch Dogs closed beta makes a wild appearance on Xbox One

Watch Dogs contains a multiplayer mode in it and Ubisoft considers it extensive enough to run a beta test ahead of its release apparently. A client for this test was spotted in the wild on the Xbox Games Store a while back, but it has now been taken offline. Ubisoft had not revealed any details about the existence of such a beta in the past, nor has it spoken about this new development officially.

Watch Dogs Closed Beta Listing

At least one user on Reddit has spotted this listing on the Xbox Games Store, and as can be seen in the image they have uploaded, this beta test is a 23.07GB download. It will apparently support up to eight players via Xbox Live Gold. The Watch Dogs closed beta listing is now down, but as it is, it was holding an ‘Unavailable’ tag on the download portal.

If such a test will indeed come forth in the future, we’re bound to see it on other platforms as well. After all, this open world game will be released by Ubisoft for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC and even the Wii U. While all other versions will be launched on May 27 this year, there’s still no word on when the Wii U edition will be doled out.

The multiplayer component of Watch Dogs will include a number of unique modes, which will allow players to land in others’ games. Moreover, a free-roam mode a la GTA Online has also been infused into it.
