Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs release date pushed forward yet again

The release date for Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs has been shifted into Q2 2013, giving the much awaited game one more delay. This push in its launch period comes despite the fact that its development has been completed. Frictional Games has announced that some important final touches are still to be infused into the title, and hence, the delay. Revealed for the first time in February last year, the game acts as a successor to its 2010 predecessor which has quite a fan following thanks to its utterly scary nature.

Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs has been developed by thechineseroom of Dear Esther fame, while its production and publishing duties are being handled by Frictional Games. The latter, on its official blog, stated yesterday that its team is currently performing tasks such as ”˜testing, tweaking, optimizing, porting, translating’ the title. And it is due to this long process that it will be seeing a delay in its launch.

The studio has disclosed that this game was originally being perceived by them as a very short, experimental title taking place in the universe established by the previous one. However, it was later found out that thechineseroom had a much bigger vision for it. The development kept moving forward, and both the companies realized that the game they had in their hands was a better one than they had imagined.

Halloween 2012 was the time during which the title should have arrived, but its launch was pushed forward then, into Q1 2013. And now, one more delay means fans of the series are left cooling their heels for a few more months. Although it is set in the same universe as its precursor, it does not act as a direct sequel to it. Its story takes place in 1899, and revolves around a wealthy industrialist named Oswald Mandus. Following his return home from a disastrous expedition to Mexico, he starts being haunted by dreams of a dark machine. Months later, he wakes up to find the mysterious machine in reality.
