Splinter Cell Blacklist release date pushed into August

The release date for Splinter Cell Blacklist has been shifted well ahead of its earlier ‘spring 2013’ window. The immensely anticipated game will now be arriving for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on August 20. Ubisoft has also gone on to make this title available for pre-order, and has unveiled a new box art of the same. Besides, eager gamers can also have a look at its fresh trailer which we’ve embedded in the space below.

Splinter Cell Blacklist

Splinter Cell Blacklist is the sixth main installment to the much revered series, and will include single-player as well as co-op multiplayer offerings. It was first revealed at last year’s E3 through a trailer which gave us a peek into what its story is going to be. Ever since this video, the game was being advertised to have been slated for a ‘spring 2013’ launch. The new launch information was revealed by IGN, but even the said website hasn’t been granted details about why the title has faced this delay.

Although it is scheduled to come out for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, there have been wild rumors in the past about an impending Wii U variant. Till now, we haven’t heard anything from Ubisoft on this matter. The new iteration to the series stays true to the action-adventure stealth genre, but introduces several fresh gameplay elements that were not a part of the previous games. The most prominent among them is the killing in motion trait which enables players to highlight targets, and kill them in quick succession, with fluidity.

Moreover, the Xbox 360 version will come equipped with Kinect functionality. With it, gamers will be able to use their voices to perform actions such as distracting enemies and more. A number of fans of the past games have been disappointed since learning that Michael Ironside, who voiced the protagonist in previous iterations, will not be reprising his role this time around. His shoes are being filled by actor Eric Johnson, who will also be performing the motion capture sequences of the character.

As mentioned above, the release date of Splinter Cell Blacklist will now be falling on August 20, 2013. It can be pre-ordered for all the three platforms currently.
