Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag release date slips out, next-gen launch hinted

A purported release date for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag has managed to sneak out through a leak, revealing that the new iteration of the much revered series could be coming out on October 29, 2013. Moreover, the almost-obvious next-gen launch for the title has also received some light. It was only recently that the game had made itself shown through another leak, after which, Ubisoft had issued confirmation that it will be launched for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U and will receive a full reveal this Monday.

This was followed by Ubisoft putting up a countdown site for the Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag unveiling to begin. While exploring this site, Gaming Everything managed to stumble upon a page (now offline) which they weren’t supposed to access. It contained a video of AC 3, but the logo was that of the new game. Below it was placed the launch date, along with a line that went, ‘Also coming to next-gen consoles.’

With the PS4 already having been revealed, the only other machine that is on the horizon is the next Xbox. Thus, these are the two consoles we can expect the title to launch for, alongside the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. Besides all this, there was even a pre-order tab on the page. Even a pre-order incentive for the game has come to the fore in the form of a poster by Todd McFarlane. And that’s not all; the site also seemed to have had an age gate which featured the image we’ve posted in the space below. It looks to be some kind of an artwork for the game.

This follow-up to the beloved franchise was hinted at earlier this year, when Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot had disclosed that the title is indeed in the making with a new setting and protagonist. This was followed by the recent leak which gave away its existence, following which, came the confirmation. The company also revealed that the PS3 version will be coming with 1 hour of extra content.
