Jet Set Radio Headed for HD Release on PSN, Xbox Live and PC

This summer will see Sega’s much appreciated Dreamcast classic, Jet Set Radio getting released in HD for PSN, Xbox Live and PC. Originally developed by Smilebit, this game was outed for the Dreamcast in 2000, following which its 2D version created by Vicarious Visions made its way to the Game Boy Advance.

This game sees players getting enrolled in the GGs, which is an up-and-coming street gang in the futuristic city of Tokyo-to. Members of the gang are striving to gain back their right to self-expression from an arrogant and corporate-controlled police force. Gamers get to play as the gang leader, Beat and his group of artists as they go along stealing turf from local gangs by covering the city with colorful graffiti.

“DJ Professor K, Beat, Gum, and all the GGs are taking to the streets in this upgraded HD version of Jet Set Radio, which sees players vying for control of the futuristic Tokyo-to by marking their turf with graffiti tagged across walls, billboards, and rival gang members. Jet Set Radio will be coming to XBLA, PSN, and Windows PC Digital Download this summer,” Kate Burning, Assistant Community Manager at Sega, wrote on the blog.

A contest for this upcoming game has also been announced by Sega on its official blog. Eighteen gamers who submit their graffiti artworks on www.sega.com/jsrcontest will get a chance to see their entries getting used on in-game environments. Moreover, these winners will also be rewarded by the company with a prize pack that includes a solar-powered Rukus Bluetooth sound system from Etón Corporation.

Though summer is the time when Jet Set Radio will launch on PSN, Xbox Live and PC, there still isn’t any confirmed release date for the same.
