Free Update adds Co-op Multiplayer to Spec Ops: The Line

2K Games’ hard-hitting shooter Spec Ops: The Line which came out in June this year, has been infused with a new co-op multiplayer mode which is available now in the form of a free download. Gamers can acquire this mode via PSN, Xbox Live and Steam. It will accompany the title’s competitive multiplayer modes as well as the extremely well-received story mode for which we were all praises in our review of the game.

Spec Ops: The Line

The fresh co-op content basically kicks in a series of objective-based scenarios set in the destructed Dubai portrayed within the campaign. A total of four ‘fast-paced’ missions can be jumped into by gamers, with each of them having their own different objectives, environments and playable characters. This mode supports just two players, who’re asked to work together and fight their way through waves of enemies as well as blinding sandstorms. Whether it is split-screen compatible or not hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Developed by Yager, this game has its story set in an alternate reality where Dubai has been ravaged by massive sandstorms that have left the place inhabitable. Gamers assume the role of Captain Martin Walker, as he embarks upon a mission to enter Dubai in order to extract a certain Colonel John Konrad and his missing battalion named The Damned 33rd. This simple mission goes all awry when unforeseen situations are encountered at this location where people are ready to go to any extent in order to survive.

The free co-op mode for Spec Ops: The Line is now live on PSN, Xbox Live and Steam, and can be downloaded by all those who own the game.
