Retro City Rampage Announced for Multiple Platforms

Retro City Rampage, which is being described as an over-the-top open-world crime title that is filled with the nostalgia and parodies of classic games, will be outed in May this year for the PS3, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Wii and PC. While stealing cars and running over pedestrians for collecting coins, gamers will be required to earn power-ups and outrun the law by rampaging the city using guns and a bionic arm.

Retro City Rampage is claimed by its maker to combine classic gaming and modern mechanics. It will supposedly tread upon genres like stealth, platforming, adventure, rhythm and more. Furthermore, missions inspired by coin-op games from the 80s would also form a part of this title. A post on the official PlayStation blog has revealed that over fifty objectives will be seen making their way into the story mode of this downloadable title.

Brian Provinciano, Developer, Retro City Rampage, explained on the blog, “Remember when you were on the playground with your friends as a child, talking about your dream video game? The one that had everything in it? Where you could go anywhere and do anything? Well, as you can see, this is my dream game. It’s taken a long time to build, but thanks to the amazing team including myself, Brian Provinciano, artist Maxime Trépanier and the composers Virt, Freaky DNA and Norrin Radd, it’s finally been fully realized and it’s even bigger and better than I first imagined.”

The open world of this game will be bustling with stores, buildings and activities that can all be interacted with. Moreover, an Arcade mode would also be offered for those who wish get into the action straightaway. This mode will come equipped with more than 30 fast-paced, score-based challenges, filled with over 25 weapons and power-ups.

Retro City Rampage is expected to release as a digital download for the PS3, PS Vita, Xbox Live, Wii as well as PC in May, 2012.
