Transformers: War for Cybertron Enters North American Stores

The third-person shooter game Transformers: War for Cybertron was announced by Activision back in December last year. What ensued were details on various playable characters such as Air Raid, Breakdown, Barricade and Warpath. Earlier this month gamers even got to avail of the multiplayer demo which rolled out onto the Xbox Live Marketplace. Now the company reveals that Transformers: War for Cybertron has made its way into North American retail stores.

Developed by High Moon Studios, Transformers: War for Cybertron dives further into the legendary conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons. The game throws players into the final epic battle which takes place on their home planet Cybertron. Besides offering complete online co-op and competitive multiplayer modes, the latest title also enables players to fashion their own unique Transformers character.

“Transformers: War for Cybertron has absolutely been a passion project from day one, a true reimagining of the franchise that transports gamers straight to the core of the Transformers universe. Players will experience full online co-op along with several deep multiplayer modes while they can create their very own Transformers character and compete head-to-head with their friends,” commented David Pokress, Head of Marketing for Licensed Properties, Activision Publishing.

The final battle will determine the survival of the planet and its inhabitants as well. Gamers can explore the vast environments in complete 3D while also possessing the ability to transform from robot to vehicle. Exciting battles are executed either on land or in the air with an arsenal of high-tech weaponry at your aid. Story missions enable players to indulge in drop in/drop out online co-op. For multiplayer modes, gamers can use their very own Transformer which can be fashioned by opting from four distinct character classes.

Besides releasing Transformers: War for Cybertron for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, two titles for the Nintendo DS system were also unleashed by the company. These include Transformers: War for Cybertron Autobots and Transformers: War for Cybertron Decepticons. The games are packed with eight story missions and 30 arena challenges. Players are treated to 30 characters of which 10 are exclusive to the DS platform. High-stakes multiplayer matches can also be enjoyed through local wireless connectivity.

Furthermore, Transformers: Cybertron Adventures for the Wii can now be acquired from major retailers. It includes a similar storyline as Transformers: War for Cybertron but also possesses its distinct format as the title is exclusively fashioned for the Wii platform. There are two Autobot and Decepticon campaigns which comprise of rail shooter gameplay levels in driving, robot and flying modes. An extra reticle can be taken over by a second player to deal out more damage in the exciting campaign mode.

All of the above mentioned games are now available in North American stores. The exact pricing details are however still unclear.
