EA Reveals New Classic Arcade Shooter, MicroBot

Encompassing diverse landscapes, the gaming domain displays an intertwined mix of varied genres and styles. EA has now carved out a new stage for another exciting gameplay within the human body. Dubbed Microbot, this innovative title from the gaming giant is an arcade-style shooter which has been designed for Xbox 360 and PS3 players.

The narrative starts off with the development of a new transformative medical technology namely autonomous nanotech machines by MicroHexon Research. Created to eradicate diseases at the cellular level, these machines take an unwieldy turn by bonding with such cells which leads to the latter’s exponential growth in the body. In such inopportune situations, gamers will need to seek and destroy any infection with the help of a new prototype referred to as MicroBot.

“We wanted to take gamers to a place they have rarely visited before – the world inside the human body. The fluid dynamics of the world and the customization of the MicroBot come together to create a unique take on the arcade shooter genre. MicroBot is an energetic and addictive game that is perfect for anyone that plays games on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network,” elucidated Jason Haber of Electronic Arts.

On their way to eliminating deadly enemies, gamers can navigate through numerous body parts including veins, bones, lungs and brain. Owing to the constant functioning of the human body, a vigorous environment looms throughout gameplay as players attempt to accomplish their tasks. Following the annihilation of the biotechnological infestation, they can harvest data fragments for unlocking more than 20 pieces of upgradable microtechnology. This will be useful for customizing the Microbot with destructive arsenal, defensive systems, movement parts and unique abilities.

The differing structures of human bodies make way for newer challenges, allowing gamers to solve intricate levels as they progress further in the title. In addition, players can also join hands with a friend in a cooperative drop-in/drop-out multiplayer campaign. The title also facilitates gamers to upgrade their MicroBots simultaneously with a friend in the co-op editor mode. Players can perform optimally by devising powerful Microbots to match their style using innumerable configurations available at hand.
