Splinter Cell: Conviction Delayed for Polishing, says Ubisoft

Splinter Cell: Conviction is the latest stealth action game in the Splinter Cell series, in development with Ubisoft Montreal. Last year in July we reported that the game, along with others from Ubisoft, had been delayed and would be subsequently pushed into early 2010. Ubisoft has apparently once again delayed the game, this time pushing it into the fiscal year of 2010, which begins April 1, 2010.

According to Eurogamer, Ubisoft has told them that Splinter Cell: Conviction has been delayed in order to add “a bit more polish”, and apparently not because the first quarter of 2010 is already packed with big-name releases.

The game looks brilliant, but we want it to be awesome,” a Ubisoft representative conveyed to the web site.

And what is a little more polishing if the game comes out awesome? Remember what happened with Batman: Arkham Asylum? The game was delayed to be polished further, and the result was a phenomenally great game, even though games based on comic book properties don’t do so well.
