Back in 2009, Activision offered us some relishing action-packed treat with Prototype which unleashed the journey of Alex Mercer. The company has now announced that it is currently working on the title’s sequel dubbed Prototype 2. Unfolding the next chapter in the life of the anti-hero, it is expected to bring in a series of superior action sequences.
“When Prototype surpassed 2MM units we knew gamers would want a sequel to find out what happens next with Alex Mercer. The team here at Radical is sincerely grateful to the fans and we are laser focused on delivering an even bigger and better experience with Prototype 2,” explained Ken Rosman, Studio Head, Radical Entertainment.
At the Spike TV Video Game Awards 2010 show which was held over the weekend, the gaming giant showcased Prototype 2’s first official trailer. This promo allowed enthusiasts to peep into the next narrative of this shape-shifting open-world action franchise. It highlights Sergeant James Heller’s hunt for grabbing and destroying the protagonist of the first installment, Mercer.

Currently underway for a 2012 release, Prototype 2 will be launched for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows PC. Lastly, gamers can now download the original Prototype to refresh the memories of the first chapter and gear up for the next one.
