Bulletstorm announced by EA and Epic Games

Back in December last year, it was speculated that People Can Fly and Epic Games were working on a new intellectual property entitled Bulletstorm. Although that was just a rumor doing its rounds, that piece of information has now been confirmed. EA along with Epic Games and People Can Fly revealed that Bulletstorm is indeed in the making and is slated for a 2011 release.

The upcoming game is noted to be a tale of a confederation set in the future which is heavily protected by the Dead Echo mercenaries. Two of the elite band members are exiled by their commander to the murky terrains situated far into of the galaxy. The title sees the two characters fending off against scores of mutants as well as flesh-gorging gangs. They must execute two primary missions which are to escape from the abandoned paradise alive and take revenge on the one responsible for sending them to the evil planet.

Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA Partners, David DeMartini commented, “We’re very excited to work with Epic Games and People Can Fly on this new project. The first time we laid eyes on Bulletstorm, we instantly knew this is going to be the next big hit from these two great studios delivering yet again an entirely new experience for shooter fans.”

Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps stated, “Bulletstorm is the kind of game we love to make because it’s pure, unadulterated entertainment. People Can Fly has created a wildly fun first-person shooter that looks gorgeous running on the latest Unreal Engine 3 technology, and the skillshot system is a welcome addition to the genre. We can’t wait to see how everyone reacts to seeing Bulletstorm.”

Gamers get to adorn the role of Grayson Hunt who hones excellent combat moves and is armed with loads of large guns. Bulletstorm is also set to introduce a new skillshot system which endows players with points depending on how creatively they inflict chaos and destruction. These rewards can be then used to unlock weapons and even upgrade their character to further dish out more mind-blowing mayhem.
