Velvet Assassin Goes Gold, Ships This Week: SouthPeak

Velvet Assassin is SouthPeak’s stealth action video game loosely related to real events in the life of World War II secret agent Violette Szabo. The game was delayed to 2009 and later got Peter Chung to help bring the story to life. Now SouthPeak Games has revealed that the game has gone gold for the Windows PC and Xbox 360 and will be shipped this week.

Velvet Assassin Goes Gold

“World War II is such a common theme amongst games in the last ten years, but it’s truly rare to find a title that brings gamers into the visceral reality of what happened,” Richard Iggo, VP of Marketing at SouthPeak Games comments. “Velvet Assassin excels in its ability to make players feel something more than just gameplay.”

Velvet Assassin takes players undercover and behind enemy lines as Violette Summer, a British secret agent as she sneaks around fortified Nazi strongholds and assassinates some high-profile targets. She even gives cyanide to her fellow operatives who have been caught in the field. The game does not feature special fantastic and unrealistic weapons. Instead the player must make do with whatever is at hand, staying true to the real life action.

Velvet Assassin has been developed by Replay Studios and is published by SouthPeak Interactive. The game for the Xbox 360 and Windows PC will be shipping to retailers on April 30, 2009 while prices have yet to be announced.
