Red Faction: Guerrilla Demo Available on Xbox Live and PSN

Straying from first person shooters, as were the first two installments of Red Faction, Red Faction: Guerrilla will be a third person shooter. This change in view allows players to easily navigate around the changing and destructive environments featured in the game.

“The press and consumer buzz for Red Faction: Guerrilla continues to build, as gamers prepare for a new standard in open-world, destruction-based game-play,” remarked Kevin Kraff, VP of worldwide marketing at THQ. “The single-player demo will give consumers an exciting taste of what the full game will offer on June 2nd.”

In the single-player demo, players take the role of Alec Mason, a freedom fighter who puts up a battle against the Earth Defensive Force for control of Mars. Red Faction: Guerrilla uses the GeoMod 2.0 Destruction Engine which itself makes use of actual real-world physics to replicate formation and destruction of objects such as buildings. The game is based on the planet Mars and takes place 50 years after the events from the first Red Faction game.

Being developed by Volition and published by THQ, the game is presently in the development phase and will be released for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC on June 2, 2009. Prices are not yet known.
