Watchmen Game and Film Hybrid Announced by Warner Bros.

Watchmen: The End Is Nigh Part 1 was released in March 2009 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC as a long-form download, to correspond with the release of the film Watchmen. Now Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has revealed plans to offer Watchmen: The End Is Nigh, the video game in retail and downloadable formats and also in a retail Blu-ray Hi-Def game and film hybrid in North America.

The Watchmen: The End Is Nigh The Complete Experience will be a retail Blu-ray Hi-Def game and film hybrid which comes with a copy of Part 1 and 2 of Watchmen: The End Is Nigh, and the Director’s Cut of the movie Watchmen, on Blu-ray. The Director’s Cut of the movie will contain an extra 25 minutes of film which was not screened in the theaters. This collectible set will also contain exclusive artwork and the game will be playable on the PS3 console from Sony.

For the first time, both the parts of Watchmen: The End Is Nigh will be available as a single game for the Xbox 360. And Watchmen: The End Is Nigh Part 2 is to be made available for download on the Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360 and for the PlayStation Network.

The game features both the Nite Owl as well as Rorschach as playable characters with two player co-op. Players can also play the single player with the second character played by the game’s AI. The Watchmen: The End Is Nigh Part 2 video game will be released in July 2009, while prices for the above mentioned retail and downloadable packs have not been announced.
