Well, it’s not new to see a game developer dissing a game made by a rival. Previously we had the Age of Conan’s developer who had said that gamers were getting tired of World of Warcraft. Now David Cage from Quantic Dream has said that Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune storytelling is like a porn movie!
In an interview with Gamasutra, David Cage, who is the founder of Quantic Dream was asked about Uncharted and Naughty Dog. He replied, “There’s a big difference. Honestly, I loved the game. I thought Uncharted was very interesting. There was some very, very interesting aspects to it. The big difference between Uncharted and what we’re doing here is that Uncharted was still structured like a video game. It gives you a bit of story, then action, then a bit of story, then action – like porn movies, when you think about it.”
According to Cage, most of the video games are done like that. He is of the view that story in video games is told through the gameplay and not the cut scenes. David Cage stated that one does not need acting performance in cutscenes. He feels interactive performance is needed. Quantic Dream is presently working on Heavy Rain.
