After Gears of War was released, there were lots of speculations about the sequels as well as the series as a whole. Numerous reports on the web pointed out that Gears of War would be a trilogy but some said that there would be four games in the shooter series. Now Cliffy B has told Danish gaming website Gamereactor that there could be Gears of War 3 and even Gears of War 4.
Video games blog Videogaming247 managed to translate Cliff Blezinski’s interview with Gamereactor. This is what Cliffy B had to say about Gears of War sequel:
- “I often feel that when a developer says ‘This is a trilogy’ right off the bat I think, ‘Shouldn’t they do the first game and see how it goes before you begin to think about a sequel?’ The market is incredibly tough. You never know how a game is going to fair, so we take it game by game. If Gears of War 2 is a success then naturally we’ll look at a third. The same applies if number three sells well, then we’ll have to consider a fourth.”
Gears of War 2 is expected to be out for the Xbox 360 later this year in November. As they say, more the merrier and gamers would be expecting Gears of War 4. And even if they stop at Gears of War 3, there is always room for prequels. What do you feel, how many Gears of War games should be made? What about spin-offs?
