The headline may seem familiar, but it’s true. Gears of War won three top awards at the 2007 Game Developers Conference (GDC) including the Game of the Year. Wii Sports and Okami were the other games that received top honors at the awards.

Game of the Year: Gears of War

Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto who won the Lifetime Achievement Award said, “I think it’s great that I’ve been able to do this so long, and I’ve done a lot of embarrassing things over the years. I personally feel very young, and I expect to keep doing this for a very long time.”

It seems that 2007 will be the year when Gears of War (or Xbox 360) will dominate most of the awards. However, Christmas 2007 will be the deciding time when more games for the PC, PS3 and Wii will release. But, who knows if a PC version of Gears of War comes out, they might again be in the forefront.
