France-based Gameloft has bagged the exclusive video game rights of the forthcoming and much awaited action movie ‘Live Free or Die Hard’. The film, which sees Bruce Willis don the role of John McClane, is scheduled to release on June 27, 2007.
However, the game will only release on the mobile platform. There will not be a console or a PC version of the game. The Live Free or Die Hard mobile game will see gamers step into the role of John McClane and embark on 13 levels of fights, car chases through the streets of Washington and mini-game puzzle challenges.
Gonzague de Vallois, who is the vice president of publishing at Gameloft, explained that they worked closely with Fox to make certain that the game captures the story and essence of the film. The plot of the film is about a criminal conspiracy targeting the American computer infrastructure and threatening the technological foundations of the U.S. economy.
The Live Free or Die Hard mobile game is expected to release later this year. Gameloft has signed similar deals with other studios for movies like Mission Impossible 3 and Shrek the Third. They have released more than sixty-five games in the last two years.
