Rockstar Appeals Manhunt 2 Ban in UK

A few weeks ago, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) had refused to bestow an age rating on Rockstar’s Manhunt 2. This efficiently banned the game from sale in the United Kingdom. However, all hope was not lost for Rockstar as they could still appeal to Video Appeals Committee (VAC) and that’s what they did yesterday.

A spokesperson from Rockstar told IGN, “Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. confirmed today that Rockstar Games has appealed the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) decision that prohibited the release of any version of Manhunt 2 in Britain.” It is still not clear on what grounds have Rockstar based its defense.

BBFC too has refused to comment on the issue. It will be quite a wait for Rockstar as the VAC chairman will have to choose individuals for an appeal panel who will then vote as to whether the ban on Manhunt 2 stays in place. There will be an announcement from the British Board of Film Classification when the Manhunt 2 appeal panel has been formed.
