The Last Guardian is indeed alive, gameplay trailer out

The Last Guardian has been residing in oblivion ever since its first trailer was released back during the E3 of 2009, and it has taken the game six years to finally jump out of the shadows. This title was showcased through a gameplay trailer at Sony’s E3 keynote yesterday.

The Last Guardian is currently slated to be released for the PS4 in 2016. Yes, Fumito Ueda of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus fame will indeed be directing it, but through a newly formed studio named genDesign. He was present during the unveiling of the new gameplay trailer, and was even asked to take a bow by Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios.

The Last Guardian still has the same two protagonists which we had seen in the 2009 footage. During that time, the game was revealed to be headed to the PS3, but the company has decided to give the last-gen console a miss now.

The Last Guardian

It revolves around a young boy and a creature that’s half bird and half dog and is named Trico. You will be given control of the little boy who has the ability to give commands to Trico. As can be seen in the video posted in the space above, together they have to overcome obstacles by solving several environmental puzzles.

The Last Guardian has been under development ever since 2007. It was first unveiled in 2009, but several delays and structural changes in Sony had led to the game reaching the brink of cancellation. But it has somehow managed to survive the mess, much to the delight of fans.
