Gamers who’ve eagerly been awaiting the release of Digital Extremes’ next release would finally be able to get a taste of things to come, as The Darkness II demo has been announced to be launched this month through PSN, Xbox Live and Steam. Gamers from all over the globe who possess Xbox Live Gold subscriptions will be the first ones to receive this demo, subsequent to which it will be dished through other services.
January 17, 2012 is the date on which this demo will be released worldwide for Xbox Live Gold members. Come January 24 and it will be spawned to worldwide networks of Xbox Live and Steam, along with North American PSN. Those PSN account holders who reside in Europe and Asia Pacific would however have to wait till January 25 to get their hands on this demo.
The gameplay of this much anticipated sequel to The Darkness was first showcased at last year’s Comic-Con. What was most eye-grabbing at the event was the game’s quad-wielding feature. This trait endows players with the ability to use their two Demon Arms in order to slash, grab and throw objects at enemies, while at the same time, firing two weapons.
Slated to be launched for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on February 7, 2012, this title transpires two year after the events that took place in the first game. Along with the single-player campaign, players would also be able to jump online and explore this game’s multiplayer co-op offerings.
The Darkness II demo will be downloadable to Xbox Live Gold subscribers from January 17, 2012 and will follow the above-mentioned schedule later on.
